That was an informal survey of volunteers, not a scientific sample, but unanimity like that is hard to wave off. The knock is a test for an empty house. What a door alarm cannot do
An alarm is a voice, not a muscle, and pretending otherwise is how people end up disappointed. So, plainly: a door alarm cannot hold a door closed. It cannot thicken a jamb or lengthen the screws in a strike plate, so it has no say in whether a kick succeeds.
