How to choose window security that actually holds
Most burglars test windows before doors, because window locks are usually the weakest thing on a house. The good news: you rarely need bars or new glass. You need three cheap layers that work together.
1. Stop the window from opening
A track lock or window blocker physically stops the sash from sliding, even if the factory latch is popped. To vent a room safely, a restrictor holds the window a few inches open without leaving a gap a person fits through.
