Why the second mount matters
The pad is the part nobody plans for.
Every stick-on sensor arrives with one pad already on it, and that pad does its job the day you fit it. The trouble comes later. You wash the window, a room changes use, a child moves bedrooms, or the sensor that watched the kitchen would be better on the patio door. The unit peels off willingly enough. Getting it to hold again is the problem, because the original adhesive has already taken dust and glass residue and will not bond twice.
People solve this with whatever is in the drawer, and a sensor mounted on packing tape or a blob of putty is a sensor that shifts. A shifting sensor on a window is worse than none, because it either falls off in the night or triggers at nothing and gets switched off. A flat, fresh, double-sided pad is a small thing that keeps the system honest.
A sensor that can rock will eventually wake itself up.

Measure the back of your sensor before you order.
These pads are 40 mm squares. Most stick-on window and door sensors have a flat mounting area at or above that size, and the pad sits inside the footprint without showing at the edges. If your unit is smaller than 40 mm across, the pad will overhang, and on a round sensor you may want to trim the corners with scissors before fitting.
The surface matters as much as the pad. Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol rather than a household spray, because most sprays leave a film that adhesive will not grip. Let it dry, then press the sensor for a good few seconds. The bond is at full strength within a day.
Re-mount a sensor in about a minute
Clean both surfaces
Wipe the back of the sensor and the spot on the glass with rubbing alcohol. Let both dry fully. Household sprays leave a film that stops adhesive bonding.
Peel and fit the pad
Peel one liner and press the pad onto the flat area on the back of the sensor. Line it up inside the footprint so nothing overhangs.
Press it to the glass
Peel the second liner, position the sensor, and press firmly for several seconds. Even pressure across the whole pad, not just the middle.
Leave it alone
Give the bond a few hours before you test the unit, and a full day before you rely on it. Then arm it and knock the pane to check it still triggers.
The drawer with the spare batteries
Nobody buys mounting pads on the day they need them. They are a spares item, kept with the batteries and the instruction leaflets, so that the evening a sensor comes off the glass you are not hunting for tape. If you run several stick-on alarms around the house, one pack covers the rearranging you will do over a couple of years.
The pad is the accessory. The alarm is the point.
