The real weak point
A lock is only as strong as the wood around it.
Your deadbolt isn't the weak point, the frame is. On most doors the strike plate is held by two half-inch screws biting into a thin pine jamb, so a hard shove splits the wood instead of beating the lock. That is why most forced entries take seconds and leave the deadbolt itself untouched.

Find the spot
Hold it across the door and the frame, beside your existing lock.
Mark it
Mark the screw holes through the plate with a pencil.
Drill
Pilot the holes with a 1/8" bit, the most common drill size.
Screw in
Drive the included screws. Flip it down and you're locked in.
