Why the keys by the door

Fob in, lid shut

Drop the fob all the way inside so no corner of it is caught in the seam, then press the lid fully closed. There is nothing to switch on.

Test it on your own car

Carry the box out and walk up to the car door with it. The car should stay asleep: no lights and no click from the locks.

If the car does wake up

The lid wasn’t all the way closed, or the fob was sitting in the seam. Reseat it, press the lid down and walk the test again.
